Abstract
Dye preparations consist of dyestuff containing foils of water-soluble cellulose derivatives, which foils are no more than 1mm. in thickness. The foils may be in the form of books printed with information giving dyestuff content, and may contain levelling agents, wetting agents, or stabilizing agents. Cellulose derivatives specified are methyl and ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, salts of cellulose ether carboxylic and sulphonic acids, e.g. cellulose glycollic acid and the ethers obtainable by reacting halogen ethyl sulphonic acid or butyl sulphone with alkali cellulose. Dyes specified are the usual dyes for colouring textiles, Naphthol Yellow, Orange GG, Brilliant Ponceau, Azo Red A, Acid Green FF (Schultz Farbstofftabellen, 7th Edition, Volume 1, numbers 19, 39, 213, 211 and 765 respectively). In examples, washing blue or a blue fluorescent dyestuff of the stilbene series is mixed with an aqueous methyl cellulose solution which is made into foils by painting on to polished plates.ALSO:Dye preparations consist of dyestuff-containing foils of water-soluble cellulose derivatives or alginates which foils are no more than 1 mm. in thickness. Dyes specified are the usual vegetable or synthetic dyes for colouring textiles, eggs, fruit jellies, syrups, e.g. the dyes from blueberries, Persian berries, cherries, curcuma, saffron, and caramel, and Naphthol Yellow, p Orange GG, Brilliant Ponceau, Azo Red A, Acid Green FF (Schultz Farbstefftabellen, 7th Edition, Volume 1, numbers 19, 39, 213, 211 and 765 respectively. In examples: (1) washing blue or a blue fluorescent dyestuff of the stilbene series is mixed with an aqueous methyl cellulose solution which is made into foils by painting on to polished plates; (2) fruit red and sodium alginate are mixed in aqueous solution and the solution spread on glass plates to give foils which may be used for colouring marmalades, jellies, fruit syrups, or liquers.ALSO:Food colouring preparations consist of dyestuff containing foils of alginates which foils are no more than 1 mm. in thickness.
