A camera for taking non-laterally inverted direct positive photographs has a housing mounted on the camera body and including a reflector mounted at 45 degrees to the exposure plane of the camera and to the axis of the camera objective which is substantially parallel to the exposure plane, the objective, a rangefinder, and a viewfinder being mounted on the outer front wall of the reflector housing, and the reflector housing being collapsable and slidable so that when collapsed it may be turned down into the camera body with the objective, rangefinder, and viewfinder so that it forms with the body a protective casing for them. As shown, a plate i bearing a mirror k is hinged to the top of a plate l to which is slidably attached a plate m carrying the objective o having an adjustable diaphragm p coupled rangefinder q, and viewfinder t, Fig. 3 (not shown), the plate i being hinged to a plate h slidable in an apertured disc g rotatable in the front wall of the camera body a which houses film cassettes b and a roller blind shutter c. Triangular plates r are hinged to the plate i and together with the plates l, i, h form a light-tight housing when the plate l is engaged by a catch s on the disc g. On releasing this catch, the plates r may be folded over the mirror k and the plate l swung back on to them, whereafter the plate i may be swung down through the disc g, the plate h being movable radially of the disc to permit this and the collapsed unit being held closed by engagement of the other end of the catch s with the plate k.
