Abstract

Finely-dispersed dyestuff preparations free of inorganic salts are made by precipitating the free leuco compounds from concentrated vats of vat dyes by acidification, separating the vat acids by filtration, treating the vat acids thus obtained together with non-flocculating dispersing agents in the form of viscous masses in a kneader, and producing from the kneaded mass paste or powder preparations by the addition or withdrawal of water. In examples: (1) N : N1 - dihydro - 1,2,21,11 - anthraquinone azine and (2) the red vat dye of the formula: <FORM:0694473/IV (c)/1> are vatted with sodium hyposulphite and caustic soda in presence of the condensation product of naphthalene-b -sulphonic acid and formaldehyde, the vats are acidified with formic acid, and the free leuco compound is filtered off and kneaded with dextrine and sulphite cellulose waste liquor respectively. The preparations may be used for dyeing regenerated cellulose, adding to viscose spinning solutions, and for printing colours. Specifications 341,408, 355,363, and 358,439 are referred to.
