Abstract
Water-soluble dyes are made by condensing anthrapyridone derivatives of the formula <FORM:0692970/IV (c)/1> where A is chlorine or bromine with an amine of the formula <FORM:0692970/IV (c)/2> where X is methyl or ethyl and Y and Z denote any of hydrogen, halogen, methyl, or ethyl, and the condensation product is treated with an alkali metal sulphite. The products dye wool or nylon reddish-blue shades. In examples: 1,9 - C - benzoyl - 2,4 - dibromo- or dichloro-anthrapyridone, or the corresponding C-3- or 4-chlorbenzoyl, C - 4 - nitrobenzoyl-, C - 3 - bromobenzoyl-, or C - 4 - fluorobenzoyl derivatives are condensed with the following aniline derivatives, followed by reaction with potassium sulphite solution: (1) 2,4,6-trimethyl or triethyl; (2) 2,6-dimethyl-4-fluoro; (3) 2,6-dimethyl-4-chloro; (4) 2,3,6-trimethyl or triethyl; (5) 2,3,4,6-tetramethyl; (6) 2,6-dimethyl or diethyl; (7) 2,6-dimethyl-3-bromo.
