Abstract
692,798. Drying apparatus. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK. July 24, 1950 [July 30, 1949], No. 18398/50. Class 34 (ii) In apparatus for drying pasty materials the paste is conveyed to an outlet B in front of which is a rotating roller C having pins D which propel the paste into the drying chambei F in atomised form. The particles are held in suspension in a stream G of hot air, the lighter dry particles being carried into a collecting vessel N while the heavier particles fall into a funnel shaped bottom J where their drying is completed by an auxiliary air stream K and they are withdrawn by a conveyer L. The pins D may contact the edge of the outlet B so that they are retarded and then spring forward with increased acceleration to propel the paste, and the outlet B is partly surrounded by a nozzle W with air inlet X. In a modification (Fig. 2) the material is fed from a vibrating device Q to a roller C at the top of a chamber F and having pins D and the outlet B of the device Q is partly surrounded by a nozzle W having an air inlet X. Hot air R is introduced tangentially at the top of the chamber F and exhaust air withdrawn at M. The dried product collects at the bottom of the chamber whence it is conveyed to a shaft T by a scavenger S.
