Abstract
The invention comprises N-(2-napthyl)-amidinoalkanes of the general formula: <FORM:0692441/IV (b)/1> and acid addition salts thereof, wherein n represents an integer, and a method of preparing sulphonic acid salts of the above compounds by heating the required cyanoalkane with a 2-naphthylamine salt of an alkyl-, aralkyl- or aryl-sulphonic acid. The free base may be liberated from the sulphonic acid salt and may then be converted into acid addition salts of other acids by methods known per se. In the examples compounds are prepared in which n is 1 to 8 inclusive and the toluene-p-sulphonate salts. Specification 573,266 is referred to.
