Abstract

691,950. Windows. BLACKBURN (DUMBARTON), Ltd., and ROSS, G. S. Dec. 21, 1951 [Feb. 28, 1951], No. 4918/51. Class 20(iii) Apparatus for forming a window opening in a wall made of poured concrete comprises a metal frame 1 extending around the top and both sides of the window opening and which is placed in position in the shuttering 11, 15 and forms the shuttering for moulding the top and sides of the window opening and remains in position after the external shuttering 15 has been removed so that the top and .sides of the window opening present a finished surface after the wall has set. The frame is made of sheet metal and is formed with an inside inwardly directed flange 4 and an external outwardly directed flange 5 which is further bent to form a marginal flange 6. The flanges 5, 6 are not connected to the external shuttering but the flange 4 is secured to the internal shuttering, which remains in position, by screws passing through apertures 10. The bottoms of the sides of the frames are bent outwardly at 8 to form ledges to hold up the concrete to form channels into which the sill is slid.
