Abstract
691,596. Hooks and eyes. CLOUGH, A. Jan. 9, 1951 [Dec. 10, 1949], No. 31758/49: Class 43. A clip or fastener for the waistband of trousers, skirts and other garments, comprises a metal plate 1 cut and bent reversely at one side to form a central hook-portion 4 and two side extensions 5 which project slightly beyond the bend of the hook so that they will engage the closed or turned over end 7, Fig. 3, of the waistband or waistband extension 3, a small slit 7x being formed in the material through which the hook 4 can be projected from the inside of the tunnel formed by the material. The ends of the side extensions 5 may be curled or rolled to prevent them cutting through the material against which they abut. A slot 6 may be provided in the plate 1 to facilitate the initial positioning of the device by tacking or sewing. The hook 4 is shaped to interengage an eye provided by a conventional bar 8 with end prongs for its attachment at the other end of the waistband.
