A toothbrush comprises a brush head carrying bristles; a handle including a shank and a neck for joining the shank to the brush head, the neck being integral with the head and the shank having a hollow end externally screwthreaded to receive a screw thread on the neck; and a cap adapted to be mounted over the brush head and having screw threading to engage with an external screw thread on the handle. In Fig.. I the shank 1 merges into a neck 2 which carries a brush head 3 in which are embedded bristles 4. The brush head and neck are made as a separate unit detachable from the shank by being screw threaded at 5 the screw thread being adapted to be received in an internal screw-thread 6 in the end of the shank 1. The brush handle is made so that the part above the screw-thread 6 is of circular shape and carries an external screwthread 8. The screw-thread 8 is a reverse thread to the screw-thread 6, and is adapted to co-operate with an internal screw-thread 9 in the open end of a cap 10. Holes 11 may be provided in the cap for ventilation purposes and a pocket-clip 12 may be attached to it. In Fig. III an alternative arrangement is shown in which two screw-threads are provided on the shank 1 and only one on the neck 2. The neck 2 is provided with a single lower screw-thread 5 adapted to engage in an internal screw thread 6 in the end of the shank 1. An external screwthread 13 is provided on the shank 1 to receive the internal screw-thread 9 on the cap 10. The cap clip may be attached by any of the usual methods, e.g., the cap may be in two parts with a screwing device provided to take a ring collar to which the clip. is fixed.
