Abstract
691,276. Recovering fibres from white water of paper mills &c. BRUSH DEVELOPMENT CO. Dec. 11, 1950. [Feb. 21, 1950] No. 30222/50. Drawing to Specification. Class 96. To increase the concentration, in one portion of a paper mill waste liquid, of suspended cellulosic &c. particles, the liquid having gas dissolved in it, rapid pressure variations, e.g. at supersonic frequency, and of sufficient amplitude to cause a portion of the liquid to become supersaturated with gas in a portion of the cycle of the pressure variations, are applied to cause gas bubbles to form on some of the particles, and carry them upwardly, thus concentrating at least the cellulosic particles in an upper portion of the liquid. The particles may be skimmed from the surface of the liquid, which may have gas bubbled through it. The liquid remaining after skimming &c. may be recycled with untreated liquid.
