Abstract
512,101. Centrifuges. WESTFALIADINNENDAHL-GROPPEL AET.-&ES. Nov. 4, 1938, No. 32065. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1937. [Class 23] Where froth is produced, more particularly in froth flotation preparation plants for ores, coal and the like, it is broken down by being thrown on to the wall of a centrifuge, with the consequent destruction of the bubbles ; the centrifuge has two hollow conical bodies with their inclinations oppositely directed. The centrifuge shown has a conical drum k with a perforated top p and is driven through gearing h, i from the belt pulley g. Internal walls are provided by the bodies o, m. The suspension froth is supplied through the pipe q to the body m ; it passes through openings s at the bottom of this body and then moves up the wall of the body o from which it is thrown to the drum k. The gas passes upwards through the perforated top p and the defrothed liquid passes through the openings r to the trough t and the discharge pipe u. The gearing h, i may be of conical form to permit regulation of the speed of the centrifuge to suit any particular froth suspension.
