[Also in Group XXIX] A toy pistol comprises a trigger operated water-ejecting pistol in combination with a cap-firing mechanism operated by the same trigger. In the Figure, a water reservoir 12 has an opening 15 communicating with a cylinder 14 having at its forward end a small orifice 21 and a one way valve. A piston 23 and piston rod 24 are urged rearwardly by a spring 25 and the rod-spring assembly are covered by a rubber tube 27 which prevents leakage of water into the pistol. Depression of the trigger 33 causes a hammer member 28 and piston 23 to move forward against the action of the spring 25, and water is ejected from the orifice 21 via, the one-way valve. Simultaneously, a hammer portion 29 moves clear of a fixed abutment 30, and a finger 43 integral with the trigger feeds a cap strip 40 upwards over a spring blade 44. At the end of the trigger depression stroke the hammer 29 is released by a sear 32 clearing a recess 31 in hammer member 28 and the cap is fired. A pivot slot 35 allows the trigger to move downwardly on its return stroke and the sear 32 to clear member 28. As the piston moves rearwardly to its normal position the one-way valve closes and water is drawn into the cylinder 14 ready for the next firing operation. Further embodiments include flexible water containers which are compressed to produce a jet of water. A revolver embodiment has a carrier for the roll of caps, the carrier being pivoted to the barrel casing.
