689,433. Fluid actuation of switches. FRANCIS, C. B. May 3, 1951 [May 12, 1950], No. 10397/51. Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XII] A pressure-actuated switch for an oil gas generating process (see Group XII) consists of a U-tube 74 filled with mercury to a level 90 and secured by a rubber collar 75 to the gas holder. A contact 77 consisting of a split copper tube internally lined with rubber 78 is normally engaged by a contact 81, also consisting of copper tube, carried by a glass float 80 and the lower edge of which is chamfered and bears on a seating formed by expanding and grinding a flat face on tube 77. The pressure at which the switch operates is selected by adjusting the position of the tube 77 on the U-tube limb.
