Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the sealing-up preformance of a seal member for a long period, by fitting the peripheral part of a free piston with the seal member for hermetically separating a gas from a liquid and with a guide member for correcting the fitted posture of the free piston. CONSTITUTION:Two annular grooves 8, 9 are provided on the peripheral surface of the body 4a of the free piston 4. The seal member 10 is fitted in the annular groove 9 to hermetically separate the gas from the liquid. The guide member 11 having projections 11a and recesses 11b is fitted in the annular groove 8. The projections 11a are in contact with the inside surface of a cylinder 1. The body 4a of the free piston 4 rocks on the fulcrum of the seal member 10 with regard to the axis of the cylinder 1 to correct the change in the fitted posture of the piston 4. As a result, the inside surface of the cylinder is prevented from being damaged by the free piston 4 and the sealing-up performance of the seal member 10 is maintaned for a long time.
