Abstract

688,510. Postal wrappers; labels. DOUGLAS, F. M. March 10, 1951. No. 5839/51. Classes 73 and 146 (ii).. In a combined mailing folder and enclosure member, the folder 1 comprises a single rectangular blank with fold lines 2 forming front and back panels 3, 4 of co-extensive length and width and a closure flap 5 integral with the front panel 3, the side edges of the panels being unfolded and free from projections and the back panel having enclosure retaining means adjacent its free end, and the enclosure member 8 comprises a rectangular unfolded portion lying on the back panel and engaged with the retaining means so that each end edge is disposed adjacent the end edges of the back panel 4. The enclosure 8 may comprise two or more interconnected leaves 14 secured either at a fold 15 or at one end. As shown in Fig, 3, the retaining means comprises a slit 12, in an extension 11 of the back panel, through which the end of leaf 14 is passed, a slit being provided in the back panel 14 through which the closure flap 3 is passed. The enclosure may also be passed through the slit 12 so that the fold 15 lies on the outer end of panel 4. As shown in Fig. 8, a separate strip 18 is secured at its ends by adhesive to the panel 4 and the closure flap 3 tucked between the panel 4 and the enclosure 8. In a further, modification, one slit is provided near the edge of the back panel through which the end of leaf 14 is passed, the closure flap passing through the same slit, and in another example, two slits are provided near the edge of the back panel to form a strip which holds the end or the fold of the enclosure 8. The folder may be re-used by reversing the folds. Labels. As shown in Fig. 8, the retaining strip 18 may be extended to form a price tag 19 which may be torn off as desired.
