Abstract
688,385. Cycle frames. WILSON, R. Feb. 22, 1950 [Feb. 24, 1949], No. 4581/50. Classes 136 (ii) and 136 (iii) A wheeled vehicle comprises a chassis, a rear wheel assembly and a seat secured to the chassis, a fork assembly comprising side members 1, 2 having lateral offsets providing a plurality of stepped portions, an aperture in each section to receive extensions 5a, 6a of fork cross members 5, 6, the latter members having central fork rod receiving apertures, a cylindrical fork head 3 and a fork rod 4, the fork assembly being usable in different vehicles of various sizes by varying the length of the fork rod and the number of fork cross bars. The fork assembly forms part of a basic kit the various parts of which may be combined to form either a small or large tricycle, a small or large kiddie car or a bicycle The small tricycle (Fig. 2) and the bicycle (Fig. 6) each have a curved handlebar 8 which is connected by a coupling member 8e to a sleeve 9 or 10 fixed to the head 3 (Fig. 25). In the small kiddie car (Fig. 4) the fork rod 4 is replaced by a headed rod 39 and the handle bar 8 by two straight bars 40. To altach the rear wheels 16 to the axle 27, notches 27e are provided (Fig. 55) for ball bearings 17d held in place by nuts 29. The chassis of the vehicles are formed by members 12, 13, or 14, 15 made of angle iron.
