Abstract

747,786. Perambulators. JENSEN, V., and CARLSEN, K. J. Jan. 15, 1954, No. 1266/54. Class 108 (1). [Also in Group XXXI] A convertible tricycle and push-chair for children comprises a double bow frame 1 carrying a seat 5 and two rear wheels 2, a tubular member 8 pivoted at 13 to the front of the frame, a steering rod 6 telescopically arranged in the member 8, a front wheel 3 and means for locking the member 8 in a substantially vertical position to form a tricycle or in an inclined position with the steering rod 6 extended as a handle to form a push-chair. A spring catch 9 on the tubular member 8 is provided for engagement in a hole 10 in the frame 1. A lug 11 on the tube 8 is inserted between rings 13 on the frame and a pivot bolt is inserted through the rings 13 and a hole 12 in the lug 11. The steering rod 6 is telescopically arranged in a tube in the tube 8. The steering rod with its handle bar 14 can be drawn out of the tube 7 until studs 15 (Fig. 5), strike a stopper 16 with a groove 17 fixed in the tube 7. Alternatively, a bush with two grooves may be welded to the end of the steering rod 6 to engage corresponding studs at the top and foot of the tube 7. The front fork 18 is welded to the tube 7. When the tricycle is to be converted into a push-chair the spring catch 9 is released and the tube 8 locked in the position shown in Fig. 2 by means of one of the pedals 4 which together with the fork 18 and wheel 3 are turned so that a pedal goes up between the frame bars and is turned by hand until at right angles to the frame bars. The seat 5 is kept in place by a wedge 19 and can be moved by rollers 20 (Fig. 2).
