688,084. Card indexes. WASS.ELL, G. P. Dec. 21, 1950. [Dec. 31, 1949] No. 31136/50. Class 146 (i). In a card filing system for business machine cards, certain cards 15, 25 used as indexing cards are caused to project slightly above the level of the other cards 10 by beadings or fillets 19, 20, which support the cards 15, 25, provided along either side of the bottom of the storage container 18 and running perpendicular to the plane of the cards when they are upright, the bottom corners 13, 14 of the other cards 10 being cut away correspondingly so as the to be supported in the container at a lower level. The fillets shown are triangular and the bottom corners 13, 14 are bevelled, a further corner 12 of the card 10 also being bevelled to allow the longest side to be either vertical. or horizontal. The fillets 191, 20<SP>1</SP>, may be provided on a removable adaptor 32 to fit into a storage tray. 181. The tops of the fillets 19, 20 may have a narrow horizontal surface 19a, 20a on which the index cards rest. The index cards 25 may be cut away to correspond with the fillets, but to a lesser extent than the cards 10, as shown at 27, 27a and 29, 29a, 31, 31a. The projecting parts of the index cards may be provided with transparent portions to enable other index cards to be seen therethrough.
