Abstract

1,156,414. Filing papers. D. J. MACKRIDGE. 30 Nov., 1967 [31 Aug., 1966], No. 38919/66. Heading B6E. A file comprises a back board 10 adapted to be mounted on a wall or like vertical surface, and a plurality of open-topped pockets having collapsible sides 16, secured to the back board in staggered overlapping relationship. Each pocket is formed by two collapsible side members 16, a front member such as 14 and a back member such as 15, the back member of each pocket forming the front member of an adjacent pocket. The back member of the uppermost pocket is formed by the back board 10. Each member 14, 15 rests with its lower edge on a step 12, and the lower portion thereof may be glued or stapled to the back board 10. Alternatively, front and side portions may be formed from integral blanks. Two springs 22, each held between two screws 23, 24, bias the pockets towards the closed position. Index references may be written near the projecting top edge of each pocket. Holes (11), Fig. 1 (not shown) are formed in the back board for fixing the file to a wall. The back board 10 may be of plastics material or hardboard.
