Abstract

1294750 Crating glass sheets FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 30 Nov 1970 [8 Dec 1969] 56819/70 Heading B8C A crate 10 for a stack of glass sheets 36 separated by sheets of paper 38 or powdered lubricant, includes a pair of side elements 12, 14 the adjacent surfaces of which are spaced apart at least a distance equal to the composite thickness of the stack of glass sheets 36 and paper 38 or lubricant plus 1À75 inches. The crate 10 further includes two end elements (22, Fig. 1), 24, at least one of which is removably secured to the side elements 12, 14, and top and bottom elements 26, 28. The bottom element 28 comprises a wooden board 30 and a co-extensive length of board 32 coated with wax 34. The sides of the stack are spaced from the side elements 12, 14 by cardboard or excelsior pads 40. A legend on the crate indicates the removable end element 22 and the correct orientation of the crate for opening.
