Abstract
688,075. Gramophone turntable accessories. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 5, 1951 [Nov. 9, 1950], No. 27378/50. Class 40 (ii). A speed reducing adaptor for a turntable comprises a stationary plate 1 having three radially disposed rollers 9 projecting above and below said plate, and a friction wheel 11, mounted below the plane of said rollers, which, through a reduction cone gearing 12, 13 frictionally couples the turntable to one of the said rollers 9, the record to be played being supported on the rollers 9 and located by a pin 3 on the plate 1. The plate 1 is supported by a bracket 16 secured to the motor board, and is located over the turntable by a hole in a depending bracket 2 which supports the inner ends of the shafts 4, 5, 6 on which the rollers 9 mounted, and also supports the inner end of a shaft 14 on which the friction wheel 11 and cone 12, 13 are secured. The shaft 5 is movable axially and radially in a slotted tongue 7a, Fig. 3, so that the appropriate roller 9 may be engaged by the part 12 or 13 of the cone gearing, according to whether a speed of rotation of the record of 45 r.p.m. or 33 r.p.m., respectively, is desired. The appropriate roller 9 is pressed into engagement with the cone 12, 13 by means of a spring 8.
