Abstract

684,937. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. NINNI, I.. April 11, 1951 [June 19, 1950; Aug. 18, 1950], No. 8476/51. Class 40 (ii). A magnetic recording/reproducing device for a magnetic tape comprises a frame 1 supported by the motor board 31 of a phonograph engageing spool supports 13<SP>1</SP>, 13 in frictional engagement with spools 16, 17, respectively, and a recording drum 6 which frictionally drives the tape and is operatively coupled to'the turntable of the phonograph. A driving belt 12 couples the shaft 7 of the drum 6 to the support 13 supporting the take-up spool 17, the friction between the tape and the drum 6 being greater than the friction between the spools 16, 17 and the supports 13<SP>1</SP>, 13. The support 13' is stationary and the gearing between shaft 7 and the support 13 is such that the support 13 overruns the spool 17. A spring- loaded arm 20 carries the magnetic transducer 21 which may be held out of contact with the tape by operation of a push-button 26. The transducer is connected by a lead 24 and plug 25 to a switch socket whereby the transducer is connected to the input side of the amplifier of a radio set for reproduction or to the output side or loudspeaker terminals for recording.
