Abstract

687,603. Piles. DESVAUX, J., and BERTHET, F. Nov. 3, 1950 [Nov. 4, 1949], No. 26944/50. Class 68(ii) Comprises several arrangements for driving or withdrawing piles by imparting thereto, in addition to a succession of impulses along the axis of the pile, a series of alternating impulses in a direction perpendicular to the axis from a source unitary with the pile. Fig. 1, for exampde, shows two horizontal flywheels 11, 12, having eccentric weights 13, 14 and rotated in the same direction thereby imparting oscillations G<SP>1</SP>, G<SP>2</SP> at right angles to the axis of the pile 1. Fig. 2, shows such flywheels combined with eccentrically weighted vertical flywheels 3, 4 which impart vertical oscillations F<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>2</SP>, combinations and developments of these arrangements are described with reference to other Figures.
