Abstract

687,179. Grinding valves etc.; trueing. ANTHONY, Ltd., L. Oct. 8, 1951 [Oct. 10, 1950], No. 24758/50. Class 60. Apparatus for grinding valves, twist drills and other articles is provided with a trueing means mounted adjacent to the grinding wheel 5 for trueing the working face thereof in a plane parallel with or at an .angle to the rotational axis of the wheel. The dressing means comprises a housing 12 in which a slidable but non- rotatable rod 14 carrying a trueing diamond 17 may be axially displaced by rotation of a hand wheel 15. The diamond is fed towards the wheel by a carrier 16 in screw-threaded engagement with a transverse bore in the rod 14 and provided with a lock nut 18. The housing can be inclined to two or more pre-selected positions and means may be provided for automatically locking it in these positions. The grinding apparatus may be as described in Specification 687,178.
