Abstract

Ultramarine is prepared by a modification of the process of Specification 686,669 in which the organic salt of an alkali or alkaline earth metal is replaced by an inorganic salt thereof and a reducing agent. Specified inorganic salts are sodium carbonate or an alkali sulphide or a compound that forms an alkali sulphide under the reaction conditions, while reducing agents specified are pitch and rosin.
