686,652. Vehicle wheels. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES DE VEVEY SOC. ANON. July 31, 1951, No. 18070/51. Class 144 (i). A wheel-hub 10 is secured on an axle-arm 3 by one or more split rings 11 provided with means for expansion into tight engagement with the hub-barrel. As shown, the axle is fitted with bearings 1, 2 spaced by an axle-sleeve 5, the ring 11 having one or more longitudinal or oblique slots 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, traversed by a tapering hole 13 to receive the conical end 14 of a bolt 15 threaded through the hub and fitted with a lock-nut 17. In modifications (not shown), the bolt 15 may be replaced by a key or wedge device; and, the split rings may be fitted in grooves in the axles.
