686,392. Lamp fittings. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., KEMBER, R. C., and ANDERSON, L. T. Dec. 21, 1950 [Dec. 21, 1949], No. 32784/49. Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv) [Also in Group XXV] A tubular-lamp fitting comprises a fixed component such as a rectangular conduit 10 containing the ancillary equipment and a second component including a reflector 26 and lampholders, the second component being detachably suspended to the fixed component by two quick-release fasteners having operating handles 31 adapted also for carrying the second component. Each quick-release fastener comprises a boss 22 welded to a horizontal part 16 of a metal bracket 12 bolted to the underside of the conduit 10. The boss has a radial U-shaped notch 23 conforming to a U-shaped notch 21 at the apex of a V-shaped notch 20 cut out of the part 16 and the upper surface of the boss has a deep V-groove 24A aligned with the notch 23 and a shallow V-groove 24B at right angles thereto. The other part of the fastener comprises a sleeve 27 slidably and rotatably mounted on a pin projecting from the reflector, the sleeve having a wedge shaped lower surface 28 for engagement with the two V-grooves in the upper surface of the boss. A spring inside the sleeve urges it downwardly. The handle 31 projects radially from the sleeve. A plug and socket connector 32 connects the lampholders in the reflector with the ancillary equipment in the conduit 10. Several reflectors may be detachably secured end to end to the same conduit.
