686,147. Lathe and other machine-tool details. WERKZEUGMASCHINEN FABRIK GILDEMEISTER & CO. AKT.-GES. May 1, 1951 [May 2, 1950], No. 10208/51. Class 83 (iii). A lathe or other machine tool has a driving gear unit or units slidably supported by one or more guides in the machine frame on which such unit or units may be moved from a working position in the frame to a freely accessible position outside the frame. A driving unit b including an electric motor and driving pulley d<SP>1</SP> is carried by lugs m<SP>1</SP> on a hinge rod i. The rod is arranged so that the weight of the unit acts to tension the driving belt. A part i<SP>1</SP> of the hinge rod is threaded into one of the support bushes k in the frame, so that by turning the squared end i<SP>2</SP> of the rod the whole unit may be withdrawn from the machine to the broken line position or completely removed. A simi. lar arrangement with supporting members p, q and r is provided for a feed drive unit c. The latter is provided on the outside with pick-off gears and on the inside the end of the shaft w of the unit makes a driving connection with the feed shaft x of the machine.
