Abstract

685,812. Cables. DARLING, R. E. Jan. 30, 1951 [Aug. 9, 1950], No. 2289/51. Class 36. [Also in Group XXXIII] An elastic hose having an outer helical rib is provided with an electric cable lying in the depression of the rib. In making the hose a stretched helical wire spring 30 is applied about a cylindrical rubber hose 3 and covered by a protective tape 31 cemented to the hose. An electric cable 32 is wound under tension on to the sheathed hose so that the spirals of the cable, which lie between those of spring 30 depress the wall of the tube, forming inner and outer spiral ribs 33, 34. An outer jacket 35 is cemented to the covering 31. Sleeves 36 moulded to each end of the hose are formed with nipples 38 through which the cable ends are led. The cable includes conductors 39, 40, and a tension cord 41.
