Abstract
901,531. Electric space-heating systems. H.V.E. (ELECTRIC) Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Aug. 9, 1957], No. 25192/57. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XXXVI] A heating cable for use in a space-heating system which may include ducts 10 and a trough 11 in a concrete floor, comprises one or more resistance wires 4 enclosed in a braided insulating sheathing 2, e.g. of glass fibres, which may have longitudinal reinforcing fibres to minimize longitudinal stretching. The wire 4 may be spirally wound on an insulating flexible carrier member (Fig. 2, not shown). The ends of the sheathing 2 are flattened or doubled over and may be secured with a tubular eyelet 8 to which the wire 4 is connected and which serves as a terminal. A second eyelet 9 may be secured to the flattened end of the sheathing near its extremity for drawing-through purposes when the cable has to be installed in a duct or passageway.
