Abstract

685,550. Road-sweeping machines. LEWIN ROAD SWEEPERS, Ltd. Jan. 19, 1951, [Jan. 19, 1950], No. 1411/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 107 A road (or floor) sweeping machine of the kind adapted to be power driven along the road and provided with a power driven brush extending transversely of the vehicle and mounted for rotation on the vehicle about a horizontal transverse axis, and having means for discharging water to effect moistening of the refuse, is characterized by the water being discharged in an atomized or drop form to provide a spray of separate droplets, the spray being of a laminar form with the major axis of the spray disposed transversely of the vehicle, extending for substantially the whole width of the brush, and being directed on to the refuse which is to be swept by the brush. The invention may be applied to the machine disclosed in Specification 685,545 and possesses features disclosed in Specifications 685,546, 685,547, 685,548, 685,549 and 685,551.
