Abstract

685,405. Snap-action switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 27, 1950 [Dec. 31, 1949], No. 31383/50. Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XXXVI] A holder for a tubular lamp (see Group XXXVI) includes a snap-action switch in circuit between the line contact 6 and terminal 11. The switch comprises a dead-centre springe arrangment 27 carrying moving contacts 20, 20a, and actuated by a member 25 adapted to rotate a shaft having a head 26 to which the pin and spring of the dead-centre assembly are eccentrically attached. Member 25 is in the form of a gear sector meshing with teeth on a rotatable guard member 16 adapted to be rotated after insertion of a lamp base 3 into the holder to retain said base in the holder, at the same time actuating the switch to the "on" position.
