Abstract

685,276. Switch contacts. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. March I, 1951 [March 14, 1950], No. 5018/51. Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XXII] In cross-bar and other switches in which it is desired to mount contact springs at suitably spaced intervals along an insulating support 15, a metal blank in the form of a band 11 is first cut out so as to produce a number of contact springs 12 arranged as closely as possible side by side with their ends still connected together as shown in the R.H. half of Fig. 2; the band 11 is then fed forward step by step at a certain speed to a fastening point 16 while the support 15, arranged beneath the band is fed forward step by step at a greater rate. At each pause in the step by step motion, the contact spring 12 at the point 16 is fastened to the support 15 bya rivetting process in which rivets 18 on the spring 12 are bent over the edges of the support 15, Fig. 6, The edges of the band 11 are simultaneously cut so as to free the spring 12 from adjacent springs. At the next forward step, the support 15 moves forward a greater distance than the band 11 so as to produce the desired spacing between springs 12, as shown at 22, 23. In a modification, the support 15 instead of being straight and moving rectilinearly may have another shape and move so that the contact springs are angularly inclined to each other.
