Abstract
684,847. Winding yarn. MUSCHAMP, H. L. Dec. 11, 1950 [Dec. 9, 1949]. No. 31633/49. Class 120 (ii). A variable yarn guide traverse mechanism comprises a carriage 1 mounted for movement parallel to the axis of the cop &c. 2, a rotatable face cam 14 supported for movement with the carriage 1 and driven, e.g. by a square-sectioned shaft 4, the throw of the cam 14, which may be a conical plate, being different at different radial distances from its axis, but its limit of throw, in one direction being the same at all radial distances from its axis, a yarn guide 7 mounted in a pivot 9 at right angles to the axis of the cam, and a cam follower 10 attached to the guide 7, which follower 10 is adjustable to contact the cam 14 at varying distances from its axis, thereby allowing the chase of the guide 7 to be adjusted. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cam 5 comprises a plurality of wavy concentric paths of varying amplitude, the crests or troughs of which are at the same level at one side of the cam. A flat, spiral spring may be used to keep the follower 10 in contact with the cam.
