Abstract

684,703. Holders for thermionic valves. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. April 19, 1951 [May 4, 1950], No. 11054/50. Class 38 (i). A valve holder comprises a ceramic base 1 having a central aperture 5 surrounded by a ring of apertures 6 housing the socket contacts 10. Each aperture 6 has a U-section portion 6b leading to a slit portion 6a which opens to the base underside, the latter having a bevelled edge 4. The contacts 10 are formed of resilient metal and have a neck 11 for biting the valve pins, and pressedout tongues 13, which when the contacts are inserted in the apertures 6, spring outwardly to engage the bevelled edge 4 whereby the contacts are retained in a floating manner.
