Abstract

The invention comprises 4-methylbenzhydryl dimethylaminoethyl ether and its hydrohalides. It may be prepared by treating a hydrohalic acid ester of 4-methylbenzhydrol with the alkali metal alcoholate of dimethylaminoethyl alcohol or with the free alcohol in presence of an alkaline condensation agent, or by treating a hydrohalic acid ester of the amino alcohol with the alkali metal alcoholate of the carbinol or with the free carbinol in presence of an alkaline condensation agent. The condensation agent may be omitted when the hydrohalide salt of the product is formed. An example is given of the process. Specifications 585,994, 607,258, 652,748 and 685,523 are referred to.
