Class 122(i) [Also in Group XXIX] A free piston, for separating a liquid from a gas in an hydraulic accumulator [see Group XXIX], has two piston discs 6 rigidly connected together with a space between them, each having a packing 7 for engagement with the cylinder wall, the liquid side packing being adapted to allow the liquid to penetrate into the space whilst both packings are adapted to prevent its escape therefrom. The packings are expanded by washers 10 pressed axially by a spring 11.
