Abstract

682,498. Anchor nuts; stud and socket fastenings. DZUS, W. March 30, 1951 [July 19, 1950], No. 7441/51. Classes 44 and 89 (i) Relates to anchor nuts having freedom to float and consists in a construction that avoids the tendency to re-centre the nut on the application of torque. To this end the cage 20 is secured by slots 25, flanged bushes 27, and rivets 26 so as to have motion in the plane of the paper only, and the nut has a rectangular base flange 21 slidable in the joggled portion 22 of the cage with movement perpendicular to the plane of the paper only. The self-locking nut shown is described in Specification 668,686, but the invention is also applicable to stud and socket fasteners such as one on which a rotary-stud is adapted to enter a socket member and engage with a crosspin therein.
