682,262. Small arms. BROWN, E. Jan. 28, 1950, No. 2277/50. Class 119 Means for adjustably. bedding a gun barrel 14, Fig. 2, in the grooved forestock 15, to suit a given gun and ammunition therefore, comprises an annular member 27 for supporting the barrel in spaced relation to the stock, and a base member 16 fast with the stock and provided with one or more adjusting screws 18 passing through the annular member and contacting the barrel. The member 27 has a split screwed stem 30 passing through an enlarged hole 24 in the base member and fastened to the stock by a nut 31. Vertical and transverse setting movements may thus be applied to the barrel to counteract spreading of fire due to jump and barrel vibration. In a modification, Fig. 6, the base member 50 has a longitudinal slot 53 for receiving the stem 30 of the annular member 27 so that the point of barrel contact with the stock may be adjusted longitudinally. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the annular member 42 is fast with a base member 47 itself fast with the stock and additional adjusting screws 46 are provided on the annular member. An electric circuit with a signal lamp 61 is provided to indicate when the barrel is contacted by the screws on using a screw driver 64.
