Abstract
In blast sintering processes, particularly of the induced draught type, in which water soluble substances such as alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts are used as decomposing agents, the coke required for sintering is mixed, before incorporation of the decomposing agent, with substances or mixtures of substances which eliminate the combustion impeding effect of the decomposing agent. Such substances are quicklime, burnt dolomite, alumina or finely divided clay. The process may p be applied in the decomposition of phosphates or in the production of sodium or potassium silicate.ALSO:In blast sintering processes, particularly of the induced draught type, in which water soluble substances such as alkali or alkaline earth salts are used as decomposing agents, the coke required for sintering is mixed, before incorporation of the decomposing agents, with substances or mixtures of substances which eliminate the combustion-impeding effect of the decomposing agents.
