Abstract
681,081. Electric condensers. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. July 17, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 16919/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 37. An electric condenser has as dielectric the product of wool fat known as lanosterol. It is preferably mixed with up to 50 per cent of castor oil, hydrogenated castor, paraffin oil or wax, HB40 (a mixture of partially hydrogenated terphenyl isomers); the mixture is effected at above the melting-point, and cooled slowly, the dielectric constant being dependent on the rate of cooling. The mixture is preferably used to impregnate rolled condensers of metallized paper.
