Abstract
679,117. Electric coils; transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 25, 1949 [Jan. 26, 1948], No. 2036/49. Drawings to Specification. Classes 35 and 38 (ii). A multi-layer coil for use in radio transformers and capable of withstanding high potential surges is insulated with polyethylene, by applying between each layer a single strip and on the coil former and around the finishing layer a plurality of strips of solid polyethylene allowing a substantial portion of each strip to extend longitudinally of the layers, the assembly is then surrounded with a mould forming heatresisting adhesive tape and heated for about 20 minutes at a temperature of about 155‹ C. and until the polyethylene becomes viscous and coalesces within the mould so as to form a solid mass when cool. The lead wires which may extend from the adhesive tape may be surrounded by polyethylene tubes..
