Abstract

679,037. Coat hangers. WRIGHT, L. J., and TOMLINSON. K. H. March 7, 1951. [March 9, 1950] No. 5904/50. Class 52 (v). A coat hanger comprises two arms 1, 2 hinged or detachably connected to lie, when viewed in plan at an obtuse angle of less than 180 degrees. In the hinged construction the axis of the hinge 3 is skewed so that when the arms 1, 2 are in their folded position they lie in the same plane. Hinged or detachable trouser rails 4, 5 hold the arms 1, 2 in position and the arms are preferably grooved to accommodate the rails in the collapsed position, the hook 11 also folding into grooves in the trouser rails. Fig. 6 shows the arms detachably connected by a tenon 15. The hook is formed with a spherical lower end 17 which is inserted into an aperture at the junction of the arms to hold them against unintentional disengagement.
