678,775. Securing clutch and gear members on shafts. SALZMANN, W. E. Oct. 2, 1950 [Sept. 30, 1949], No. 24042/50. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to a differential gear lock on a tractor (see Group XXXI) in which each axle shaft 2 carries a gear wheel 1, which is driven by the differential, and a clutch member 3. The gear wheel 1 is splined or keyed onto the shaft 2 and the clutch member 3 is threaded onto the shaft 2 to replace a normal castle nut. Screws or bolts engage screw threaded holes 7, 8 in a flange on the member 3 and in a ring member 5, there being twice as many holes 7 as holes 8 to permit fine adjustment. The ring 5 has projections 6 which engage apertures in the gear wheel 1 or is arranged between the spokes thereof.
