Abstract

678,460. Making hollow-ware. BROUGH & CO., Ltd., E. A. March 20, 1951 [March 21, 1950], No. 6937/50. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). [Also in Group XVII] A method of making a drum, keg, &c., comprises forming an outwardly directed peripheral corrugation 7 in the drum wall 1 near its upper end so as to leave an upstanding rim 8 above the corrugation and forming the drum head 2 with a depending flange 9 adapted to fit around the rim 8, the flange terminating in an outwardly directed extension 10 which is rolled upon the corrugation 7 to hold the head and wall together during welding of the head to the wall above the corrugation. The head 2 has a peripheral ridge 3 interrupted at 4 to accommodate a pouring spout 5. The Provisional Specification states that the bead 7 may be directed inwardly.
