Abstract

677,282. Universal joints. MASCHINENFABRIK STROMAG GES. Dec. 20, 1949 [Dec. 28, 1948], No. 32588/49. Class 80 (ii). A universal flexible coupling comprises an annular member 1 made of rubber or like material of arcuate cross-section having one or more embedded reinforcing layers of woven linen thread fabric, wire or other reinforcing' material and thickened fabric rims which are clamped to the coupling flanges 3, 3' by pressure rings 6. Bolts 5 secure the pressure rings 6 to the flanges 3, 3'. Projections 10, 11 on the flanges ensure a positive drive in the event of the coupling parts exceeding a predetermined relative angle of drive. The member 1 may be radially split at one point 8 to facilitate assembly. One of the pressure rings may be formed as a brake disc.
