Abstract
677,160. Wall &c. linings. HAY, H. M. March 28, 1951 [Dec. 30, 1949], No. 33338/49. Addition to 558,174. Class 20(iv) [Also in Group XXV] A clip plate a for holding building boards d against the flanges of a T-section lath e consists of a metal plate bent into V or U or channel cross section formed at the bend with a contracted mouthed slot b in each limb of the plate adapted to engage with and slide along a flanged or beaded head el of the web of the lath, and a gap c in the end of one limb of the plate extends into the widened end b<SP>1</SP> of the slot b in that limb so that the latter can be snapped into engagement with the head of the web. The plate is moved along the lath with the slot b and b2 engaging the web and head e<SP>1</SP>, and when in the desired position the slot enlargement b<SP>1</SP> is snapped into position. The gap c may be in the form of a convergent notch. A second enlargement b<SP>3</SP> of the slot b may be made in one limb, as shown in Fig. 5, so that the clip may be used with boards of two different thicknesses or with laths of two different depths of web. Tongues f to serve as spacers for the boards d may be formed and bent as in Fig. 6 by cutting away the sides of the slot b in one of the links at the bend of the clip. The clip preferably extends beyond the borders of the flanges of the lath. The head e<SP>1</SP> of the web of the lath may be as shown, or, for example, of bulbous or convergent or divergent triangular section.
