Abstract

676,684. Manure distributers. CORNTHWAITE, J. Sept. 3, 1949 [Aug. 4, 1948], No. 20538/48. Class 6(i) - A manure distributer of the type having a slat conveyer 8 feeding manure rearwardly to a rotary tined drum 13 is characterized in that the tines 17 are loosely mounted on a fixed cranked axle 12, so that as the drum rotates they extend from and retract into its surface. The whole distributing mechanism forms an attachment for an existing trailer 1, and is mounted on a false floor 4 which is supported on legs above the trailer floor and constitutes the bed of the conveyer, the latter comprising endless chains 8 interconnected by slats 9. Mounted on brackets 11 at the rear of the floor 4 is the fixed axle 12 carrying the tines 17 on its cranked part. Rotatably mounted on its other part is the drum 13 comprising a cylindrical cage with longitudinal bars 16 through which the tines 17 protrude. The drum is driven by belt drives 21, 27 from a spocket 26 fixed to a land wheel 3. The rear conveyer axle 6 is driven from the drum 13 by a double pawl and ratchet device, Fig. 6, operated by eccentrics 29 rotating with the drum. The throw of the pawls 31 is adjustable.
