Class 87(ii) [Also in Group XIII] A method of drying green brick and iron lathing prior to the operation of baking the clay burls comprises passing an electric current through the portion of the web of wire netting or mesh-work base material between the applicator rollers and reeling device while at the same time a current of heated air is circulated about the lathing. A web 1 of wire netting is passed between the rollers 3, 4 which apply the burls of clay, and over guide rollers 6 to the winding device 8. Hot air is circulated through a tubular channel 7 which surrounds the path of the lathing between the rollers 3, 4 and winding device 8. Electric contacts with the wire base material are provided with rollers 11 and 13 -the latter establishing contact with the side edges of the base material which are not studded with burls of clay. Thermostatic control means may be provided in the electric circuit in order that the wire may be maintained at a temperature higher than that of the heated air.
