Abstract

676,331. Tables &c. SANKEY-SHELDON, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1951. [May 5, 1950] No. 11109/50. Class 52 (iii). In a table, desk, &c. of the kind such as is described in Specification 660,679 the slide 4, which carries the draw-leaf 3 by means of pivoted links 10, is provided with an operating handle 17 connected to a slidable bar 18 which is connected, at its remote end, to the slide 4 by a spring 21. In extending, the handle 17 and slidable bar 18 is drawn outwardly causing the slide 4, through the spring 21, to slide outwardly together with the draw-leaf 3 until the draw-leaf 3 clears the fixed table top 1 whereupon a spring 28 at the end of the draw-leaf 3 and the engagement of the roller 12 with the ramp 11 causes the draw-leaf to rise freely to the level of the fixed table top 1 release of the handle 17 allowing the spring 21 to retract the handle 17 beneath the drawleaf. To retract the draw-leaf 3 to its inner position the slide 4 by means of the handle 17 is drawn outwardly causing the draw-leaf 3 to be lowered whereupon it can be pressed home below the top 1, stop 22 on the handle 17 engaging a transverse member 23 preventing the handle being pushed too far below the retracted table top.
